“A modern monk, perhaps, is younger than a pre-revolutionary one. He may have a spiritual education, or he may also have a secular education: a university, graduate school, etc. A person who came to church significantly, it is not easy and it costs a lot, but opinions may be different,” he told a news conference dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the restoration of the Danilov Monastery.
He added that, in his opinion, modern monks love to travel.
“They love the person, they love the sacrifice, each one brings their own contribution to God,” the governor said.
According to him, today there are about 80 novices in the Danilov Monastery.
