Here is the “origin setting” of his work: sculptures created in Ulan-Ude and Irkutsk, and Italian, with fine casting… Dashi Namdakov started with wood, then moved to metal and again returned to wood. The impetus for this was the time of coronavirus, when all foundries were closed. Thus, at the center of the exhibition is the minimalist composition “Dragon”, created together with 14 other wooden sculptures especially for the 2023 Venice Biennale, where all would be exhibited in the interiors of the Church of Sant’Antonin. But unfortunately, for urgent reasons, the inauguration did not take place in Venice.
“I came to this through all my experience,” Dasha Namdakov spoke about the sculpture “Dragon” at the opening of the exhibition. “I loved a lot of details, tinsel, but because of age you strive for simplicity. …I want to create complex and expressive things using a minimal amount of funds.”
Namdakov admitted that this is the most important exhibition of the sculptor: “Altai is a divine and sacred place. An incredible culture, civilization and people! This is a small exhibition, but the most important, because it opened in my homeland , in Siberia.”
Opening the exhibition, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Sberbank of Russia, German Gref, noted that Dashi Namdakov is a “God-kissed artist” who creates art that is completely original, yet thought-provoking and evokes emotions.
“The most important goal of this exhibition is to introduce Dasha’s works to resort guests and generate interest,” said German Gref.
In total, the exhibition, which will be open until December 10, presents 13 works by Dasha Namdakov of different directions – from realism (“The Rich Bride”, “Bukha-noyon”, “Nomad”) to postmodernism (” Aphrodite”, “Courage”, “Movement”).
The exhibition of sculptures by Dasha Namdakov in the land of the Altai Mountains addresses the themes and plots of Asian history and the artistic fantasies of the modern viewer, glorifying the master’s love for nature, man and his feelings.
“I thank destiny that I visited different cities in the world. And my Buryat culture is a skewer on which I chain all my experience… In art, the important thing is not the explanations, but the relationship between a person and a work of art. art, its internal dialogue,” said the sculptor.

The Transformation exhibition was the first in a series of exhibition projects planned at the resort. According to the organizers, Manzherok should become not only a place for active sports and recreation, but also a multicultural space for uniting creative people. Today, the hotel exhibits works of artists who create their works in different artistic techniques and directions.
For example, on the fourth floor you can find works by the young artist Arzhan Yuteev from the series “Tamga. Memory of the family.” Using mixed techniques, stainless metal, brass, acrylic and even bent nails and painted roots, the artist depicted the emblems of thirty important Altai clans.

Dashi Namdakov is a Russian sculptor, artist and jeweler, member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. His work is based on oriental flavor, traditions of nomadic peoples and modern symbols. The sculptor’s works conquered the East and the West, were exhibited more than once in various regions of Russia and today are presented for the first time in the Altai Republic.
He is the author of monumental sculpture complexes such as “The Center of Asia” in Tuva, “Khanshaim” in Kazakhstan, “Keeper” and “Kazan” in Tatarstan and “Golden Shoria” in the Kemerovo region.
