The settlement plan proposed by Beijing consists of 12 points and contains, among other things, a call for the start of peace negotiations and a ceasefire, reports TASS.
According to China, all parties should maintain restraint, not escalate the conflict, avoid further escalation and the situation around the crisis in Ukraine getting out of hand.
It is necessary to promote the maintenance of contacts between Russia and Ukraine, the resumption of direct dialogue, as well as contribute to the gradual de-escalation and relaxation of the situation until a complete cessation of hostilities is achieved, the document says.
Dialogue and negotiations are the only way to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, the document emphasizes. China notes that all efforts to promote the peaceful resolution of the conflict should be encouraged and supported.
The PRC also considers it necessary to abandon the Cold War mentality. The security of one country cannot be guaranteed at the expense of the security of other countries, and regional security cannot be guaranteed by strengthening or expanding military blocs, the statement said.
Earlier, the head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, CPC Central Committee Politburo member Wang Yi, in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that the Chinese government intends to adhere to an objective position on the crisis in Ukraine and play a constructive role in its political solution.
