After the solemn ceremony at the Great Hall of the People, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the Philippine leader. The Chinese leader noted that China was the first country other than ASEAN countries he chose to visit after his election to office of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Being the first foreign leader to visit China this year speaks to the close ties between the two countries.
The Chinese chief said that despite the difficult situation in the international arena, China and the Philippines maintain friendly relations. Xi Jinping called for further development of contacts for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
Ferdinand Marcos Jr. noted that Manila attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Beijing and expressed the hope that it will be further strengthened.
