“We have already discussed and agreed on all possible actions that are necessary for the intervention in Niger,” Al Jazeera was quoted as saying by the commissioner.
Musah explained that the ECOWAS intervention in Niger would be short-term and aimed at “restoring constitutional order” in the country.
“We are ready to enter Niger as soon as the order is given,” the commissioner said. According to Musakh, the start date of the armed operation is already known, but not disclosed.
Earlier it became known that the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Leonardo Santos Shimao, went to Niger to negotiate with military representatives to resolve the crisis in the African Republic.
Let us remember that on July 26, a group of Nigerien soldiers announced the dismissal of the president of the republic, Mohamed Bazum, from the exercise of his powers. Since then, the politician has been detained at his residence, while the country is led by General Abdurakhman Tchiani, who headed the National Council for the Salvation of the Fatherland (NCSR).
