Rubin got the first win in the RPL and saved Rakhimov. And the “Wings” collected all the bad luck

Rubin and Wings started the RPL season in different ways. If Samarans rose to the top of the table, then Kazan was at the bottom. Although in the first round Rubin pleasantly surprised in a match with Lokomotiv. But then two losses and another draw followed. Well-known football agent Timur Gurtskaya reported yesterday that Kazan head coach Rashid Rakhimov might be fired soon. So, the meeting with the “Wings” has become of vital importance for Kazan.
In the fourth round, Rubin lost to Rostov without a chance (0-3). Rakhimov made four substitutions compared to that match. Defender Igor Vuyachich, midfielders Ugochukvu Iva and Alexander Zotov, as well as Alexander Lomovitsky entered the field from the first minutes. In the last round, the Samartans played excellently under Loko, disappointingly missing out on injury time victory for the second half. Igor Osinkin made only one change – instead of Yuri Gorshkov, Nikolai Rasskazov appeared at the start, only scoring against Lokomotiv.
Early in the match, Rubin became actively involved. The hosts came under high pressure, sparing no strength. This contributed to a large number of small fouls (not just by Rubin). Bad weather in Kazan also played a role in the tense situation. It became even hotter after the disallowed goal of “Wings” in the eighth minute – Nikita Saltykov closed the canopy with a free kick, but it was offside. But Rubin, after a couple of moments, seized the opportunity from the banner. Defender Alexei Gritsaenko confused the Krylia defense, quickly jumping under the canopy and bringing the ball into Ivan Lomaev’s goal. Surely Rashid Rakhimov’s mood immediately improved. Not for much longer.
After four minutes, the leader of the Samara team, Benjamín Garré, took advantage of the mistake in Rubin’s defense. After passing from deep, he jumped into Yuri Dyupin’s goal, deftly turned his foot and sent the ball past the goalkeeper. Crazy from 15 minutes!
But then the pace slowed down. The ball was more often in the control of the Wings, but it was not possible to extract deadly chances from this. Periodically, the rivals created chances from set pieces. But the shot of the defender of “Wings” Bale from a free kick, for example, was blocked by the wall, and the attacks of “Rubin” were stopped by the defense of the guests.
The real break for Kazan came unexpectedly. The ball hit Glenn Bale’s elbow in the Wings penalty area, VAR called referee Sergei Tsyganok to review and awarded a penalty. The 11-meter throw was unsuccessful by Mirlind Daku, but Alexander Martynovich was in time to spike and put Rubin ahead again. And the timing from the penalty spot, frankly, unfortunate – Bale was not lucky with the situation.
Excellent Rakhimov lineup at the end of the first half. And for the Wings, Garre’s injury was the key news. The leader of the guests injured his ankle at the crossroads with Gritsaenko and did not appear after the break. This is a problem for Osinkin, because it is the Argentine who constantly creates danger at the gates of others, being the leader in the Wings attack. Another bad luck?
The beginning of the second part gave the expected panorama. Rubin was in no hurry to go on the attack, but the guests were actively advancing. The locals were rescued by the defense and the goalkeeper Dupin. “Rubin” repeatedly fouled the Samarans, which reflected the subdued mood of the Rakhimov team.
The hosts managed to create their own chance: in the 66th minute, Daku made a great pass, already past Lomaev, but missed the goal from a sharp angle. This moment remained the brightest for Rubin in the second half. “Wings” pumped, trying to at least equalize the score. In the end, the Samarans fell on horseback passes into the penalty area, but were eliminated by Dupin.

But in the end, the Wings fell asleep on the counterattack, in which Bale had to foul Umarali Rakhmonaliev. The referee showed the Dutchman a second yellow card, taking him off the field. The chances of a positive outcome are reduced to a minimum. The added five minutes did not help the Wings.
Samarans suffered their first loss of the RPL season and Rubin earned their first win. Rashid Rakhimov escaped a deplorable fate, and now he is calmly preparing the team for the upcoming meetings. “Alas”, despite another good game, not without bad luck lost points again. But in the next round, Osinkin’s team will host Baltika at home. The Wings have a good chance of winning. Rubin will play Dynamo at home; it will be difficult to repeat the success of the match with Wings.
