Congratulating the residents of Rostov, the head of the city administration, Alexey Logvinenko, noted that Rostov is a special, bright and hospitable city. It interweaves traditions, culture and history of 150 nationalities.
“The main wealth of Rostov-on-Don is its people. Hardworking, hospitable, open to everything new and infinitely loving their city, their country. It is with the successes and achievements of the citizens that the history of the capital of the Don.”, highlighted Alexei Logvinenko.
According to tradition, the official start of the festivities began with a prayer of thanksgiving in front of the temple in Pokrovsky Park. The ringing of bells and the melodic singing of the seminary’s spiritual choir created an atmosphere of unity for all present. After which a wreath-laying ceremony took place at the monument to the city’s founder, Empress Elizabeth.
Then the epicenter of the holiday moved to the main street of the city – Bolshaya Sadovaya, glorified by many composers and singers. The II International Festival of Merchants and Popular Culture “In the Garden of the City” took place there.

An ensemble of spoon makers performed lively songs, blacksmiths taught everyone how to mint souvenir coins, and potters taught how to make clay pots and cups. Guests from Murmansk brought an exhibition of unique Russian folk costumes. Traders of the 21st century: ships and equipment. Rostovites did not forget about good deeds: at the festival they collected books and stationery for the children of Donbass.
For the convenience of Rostovites, festive events were held in different parts of the city. A sports festival – “Extreme Element” took place in Levoberezhny Park. Not far from the Voroshilovsky Bridge, a new skating area was opened, where skateboarding, roller skating and speed skating competitions were held.

On the banks of the Don, the Rostov-on-Don Beach Volleyball Cup matches between mixed teams were held for the first time. For the Rostovites, the fitness jumping contest, jumping on mini trampolines, and street basketball fans competed alongside them, were also memorable.
And in the evening, on the left bank of the Don, a gala concert “The best city on Earth” took place. The best creative groups of the city performed on stage, as well as artists from other regions, including Donetsk and Lugansk. The culmination of the festivity was the song “Corazón del Sur del Poder”, which united all the concert participants.
