Extra help for 1,400 ranchers in Spain: more than 9 million will be distributed

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 05:30:50

The extraordinary aid enabled by the Government of Spain already has a third list with 1,411 owners of livestock farms. The budget contemplated for this subsidy will be a total of 9.1 million euros. The aid, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, is intended to serve as compensation due to the difficult situation as a result of the drought and war in Ukraine.

As for the amount, this sum is added to the payments already made previously in October and November 2023. Together, they accumulate an amount paid of 352 million euros, distributed among 73,369 beneficiary ranchers, thus representing 99% of the pre initial total budget of 355 million euros.

Approval of the measure

Regarding approval, the extraordinary aid was authorized by the Government through Royal Decree-Law 4/2023, of May 11. Furthermore, it is financed exclusively with funds from the General State Budgets. The list of the owners of the beneficiary livestock farms, the number of head of livestock computed and the import of the aid to be received is now available on the electronic headquarters of the Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund (FEGA).

Thus, the resolutions published this Friday include the owners of livestock farms who presented allegations to the provisional resolutions of July and October and which, due to their complexity, had to be studied by the autonomous communities.

When will the aid be received?

Regarding payment, compliance with the requirements set out above will first have to be analyzed and verified, then it must be confirmed that they are up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations. After this process, the payment resolution is published. Thus, the aid will be deposited into the bank accounts of the ranchers during this month of April.

What happens if they don’t have the data up to date?

Likewise, this resolution also includes holders who have been denied aid for not complying with the established requirements. Precisely for this reason, the Government guarantees a deadline to put everything in order for those owners of livestock farms who are not up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations. After this period, a new verification will be carried out and a new granting resolution will be published to the holders who meet the requirements.
