The Russian diplomat noted that the Russian Investigative Committee revealed that funds for carrying out terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation were received through commercial companies, including the oil and gas company Burisma Holdings operating in Ukraine. He also recalled that the son of the current US president, Hunter Biden, has been a member of the supervisory board of this company since 2014.
“We hope that our American colleagues will give us all the necessary explanations on this matter,” Nebenzya said.
The Investigative Committee previously reported that, based on the results of the inspection, which was carried out after an appeal by State Duma deputies and public figures, a criminal case was opened for a crime provided for in Part 4 of art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “financing of terrorism”.
According to Russian investigators, in recent years companies such as Burisma have been used to carry out terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as abroad. The purpose of the crimes was “to eliminate prominent political and public figures and cause economic damage.”
