King Felipe VI will begin next Monday the round of consultations with the political parties that have obtained parliamentary representation. Based on these conversations, the monarch must propose a candidate to try to gather the support that will allow him to overcome the investiture session and form a government. As reported by the Royal House, the round will begin on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with UPN, CC, PNV and Sumar and will continue on Tuesday with Vox, PSOE and PP.
After the king received this morning in audience at the Palacio de la Zarzuela the new president of Congress, the socialist Francina Armengol, where she has informed him of the composition of the lower house, the round of consultations with the seven representatives is now open politicians who will attend La Zarzuela, once ERC, EH Bildu, Junts and BNG have declined their attendance. The king will receive on Monday, August 21, starting at 10:30 am, Javier Esparza, from UPN, and Cristina Valido, from Coalición Canaria; and in the afternoon, starting at 4:00 p.m., to Aitor Esteban, from the PNV and Yolanda Díaz, from Sumar.
On Tuesday it will be the turn of the representatives of the three parties that acquired the greatest number of seats in the last elections on July 23: the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal (10:30 a.m.); the general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez (12:00 pm) and will close the round with the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo (4:00 pm).
Negotiation “without rush” for the investiture
Marta Lois, spokesperson for Sumar, has considered that the investiture of Pedro Sánchez is getting closer after highlighting a “will” in the nationalist forces after the agreement reached to consolidate a progressive majority in the Table of the Congress of Deputies. Although she sees this pact to establish a new coalition government as possible, Lois has emphasized the difficulty of the process and has highlighted the need to carry out a negotiation that, although without “hurrying”, does not extend the terms of the investiture.
In statements to RNE and quoted by Europa Press, Lois has also underlined the obvious failure of the election of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in the Congress Table. This raises doubts about the viability of Feijóo as a candidate for the presidency of the Government, since he did not modify the minimum agreements that he presumed to have days ago and did not have the support of Vox.
