The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola named his best film. They became the 1983 film “Rumble Fish.” The cinematographer was answering questions on his social networks when one of the subscribers asked about the director’s favorite work.
At first he tried to evade the answer, but still said: “My best movie? It’s like asking a man who has seven children which one is the best. I love you all, but if I scratch deeper, I might say “Battle Fish.”
The film is based on the novel by SE Hinton. The film tells the story of the leader of a small youth gang, Rusty James, who dreams of being like his older brother. “Rumble Fish” was filmed in black and white.
Coppola called it “a teen feature film”. Critics now consider the film a cult artifact and an underrated work in the director’s extensive filmography. Previously, the director’s daughter, Sophia, included her father’s film on Sight & Sound magazine’s list of favorite movies.
