Ghibli Animation Studio vice president Junichi Nishioka has denied rumors that director Hayao Miyazaki is retiring. The animated work The Boy and the Heron (at the Russian box office – “How are you?”) will not be the last in his filmography, writes Hypebeast.
“Many people say that The Boy and the Heron is Miyazaki’s last film, but the director himself doesn’t think so. Hayao is currently working on ideas for a new film. He comes to the office every day and I had no intention of announcing his retirement. Miyazaki does his job the same way he always does,” Nishioka shared.
“How are you?” is a film adaptation of the 1937 novel by Japanese writer Yoshino Genzaburo. According to the anime’s plot, a teenager named Mahito tries to find his dead mother in the magical world. You can see the trailer for the cartoon here.
