Blagoveshchensk Mayor Oleg Imameev posted a video of the incident on his Telegram channel. It shows how a company of two girls and two boys met at night. Then the ladies leave, and their knights begin to break the magpie. It was not possible to do this with their hands, and then the boys, standing on the bench, began to beat the bronze magpie in turn with their legs until it fell to the grass. After that, one of the young men took the sculpture, and the whole company withdrew from the field of view of the CCTV camera.
“Beauty and the beast in the MFC, deer on the same embankment and a carriage with horses. These are objects of art that adorned the city and no longer exist. They did not survive the “careful” attitude of some citizens. I wonder why someone hones their strength and agility in the gym, and someone like that. What is the reason? Alcohol, the desire to show off in front of a girl or friends, the lack of a culture of behavior or the absence of anything else? I want to address the company in this video: be just as brave and return the magpie. Then we will be able to repair the art object you have damaged,” Oleg Imameev wrote.
The composition “Imperturbable Cat” was created by sculptor Nikolai Nevedomsky. He was also known as the first city administrator of Blagoveshchensk, and later as the head of the regional election commission. As a sculptor, he became the author of several compositions installed in the settlements of the Amur region, including monuments to the pioneer Cossacks in the village of Verkhneblagoveshchensky, the builders of the BAM at the Bamovskaya station of the Skovorodinsky district, the partisans who fought against the Japanese invaders in the city of Skovorodino, as well as the Hero of Russia Oleg Peshkov in the village of Vozzhaevka, Belogorsk district.
In addition, the Blagoveshchensk administration reported that unknown vandals damaged the embankment fence near the “Imperturbable Cat”. Utilities have already restored the integrity of the structure.
