The attack itself took place late Sunday night. While the head of the family was at his workplace due to the protests, unknown persons tried to ram a car into the official’s house. As a result of the incident, the mayor’s wife and son were injured.
At the same time, the night from Saturday to Sunday was relatively calm, “only” a little more than seven hundred protesters were detained, many of them minors. That number had doubled the night before. Special forces of the police and the gendarmerie operate in the big cities, supported by armored vehicles, and some 45,000 law enforcement officers have been mobilized throughout the country.
