“The Government of the Russian Federation will continue to support the indigenous peoples of the country. The preservation of the customs, traditions and way of life of these peoples is one of the foundations of the path of our multinational state. This is an important component of culture. The necessary funds for such work are included in the budget of the Russian Federation.One of the ways to tell the whole world about the Russian North and the Far East – the exhibition “Far Eastern Street”. Here, in In space of the embankment, all regions of the Far East are represented, but we dedicated a separate pavilion specifically to indigenous peoples: their rich culture, unique traditions and originality, “said Deputy Prime Minister Russian Federation – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
The thematic pavilion “Soul of Russia. North” will present the aesthetics of applied art of indigenous peoples with the help of modern architectural forms and high-tech solutions. The exhibition will be divided into several zones. The interactive zone “Introduction to Indigenous Peoples” will house an installation containing information about each indigenous people living in Russia: number, language, religion, way of life, traditions, territory of residence. To the left and right of the screen there will be two stelae with additional information about the folklore and customs of the small indigenous towns.
In the main room there are a series of multimedia projection screens. In this area, the demonstration of a photographic exhibition that tells about the life, national traditions of the representatives of indigenous peoples is planned.
In the tourist zone, guests will be told about active recreation and travel in the Arctic, and in the fishing zone – about the traditional way of hunting at sea of indigenous peoples. The souvenir area will feature unique crafts.
“Unique nature, cultural heritage, original traditions, strong-willed and creative people – all this is the Russian North. I am sure that the planned events in the Soul of Russia pavilion. North”, will draw additional attention to indigenous peoples , the peculiarities of the life of people in the vast expanses of the Far East and the Arctic, to unique crafts, will allow the exchange of experience, to find friends and like-minded people among the guests and participants of the forum”, the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Aleksey Chekunkov.
As part of the business program for the opening of the exhibition, experts will discuss current issues of the national state policy regarding the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, and a seminar on inter-ethnic relations is also planned in Primorsky Krai together with the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia in Primorsky Krai. In addition, a meeting of the Public Council of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation will be held on the sidelines of the event.
Guests will receive presentations on the history and culture of the indigenous peoples of the Primorsky Territory, the Khabarovsk Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Code of the Northern Peoples and the projects of the Association of Northern Indigenous Peoples , Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation. In addition, visitors to the exhibition will receive master classes in arts and crafts and northern dances, as well as a concert by creative groups.
