According to the Israeli government’s security advisor, Mark Regev, the Israelis will need a protective zone. There will no longer be a situation in which Hamas can cross the border to attack.
Regev did not provide more precise details about the planned security zone. However, this is supposed to happen at the expense of the Gaza Strip.
In response to the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, Israel responded with massive airstrikes, a blockade of the Gaza Strip, and launched a ground offensive in late October. According to the Gaza health department, more than 15,000 people died as a result.
