In this form, a person has long approached the limit of possibilities. The world record of the Cuban Javier Sotomayor (2 m 45 cm) has been maintained for more than thirty (!) years. Although the attack on the record seems short-lived in the main high-altitude outings, this type of competition always provokes more excitement.
In Budapest, the fight in the sector was intriguing. Olympic champion Tokyo Tamberi, with the same result, beat American Juvon Harrison in the fewest number of attempts. By the way, at the Tokyo Summer Games, Tamberi also climbed to the top step of the podium, but next to him was the Qatari Mutaz Essa Barshim. The organizers awarded two “golds” at once – the competitors got exactly the same results.
This time, the 2022 world champion, owner of the best result among active jumpers (2.43), Barshim received bronze: 2.33.

Indeed, last weekend at the final tournament of the “Queen of Russian Sports” professional series of insiders, Lysenko won on the Historical Square in Yekaterinburg with a magnificent result of 2 m 35 cm.
