Rental company Kino.Art.Pro will release unique Korean films for wide distribution and hold educational lectures and master classes as part of the Korean Film Quarter program. The events will take place from July to October 2023.
This is a new program that was created in connection with the great popularity of Korean culture in Russia. Each film in this selection is a winner of international awards. In total, you will be able to watch six outstanding films by talented masters of modern Korean cinema: Park Tae-min, Lee Jong-suk, Jung Yong-gi, Lee Hae-young, Choi Sung-hyun.
All of them will be shown in Russia for the first time. The program will demonstrate to the Russian audience the genre diversity of Korean films and will provide an opportunity to learn new and useful information at lectures and master classes that will be held together with the KARO.Art project.
The quarter will open on July 20 with the release of the dynamic action thriller “Baby Driver”, in which the cult star “Parasite” Pak So Dam played the lead role. Also on the Koreatown show is The Negotiation Game, which will be released on August 17. This gripping psycho-crime detective follows a brave Seoul police negotiator who tries to negotiate with her kidnapper and save her boss.
Next, on August 31, the unique Korean horror film “Ghost Station” about a journalist who investigates an urban legend will be released. On September 14, the movie “How to Steal a River,” based on Korean folk tales, about the charming and brilliant con artist Kim Song Dal, will be released in theaters. Phantom will be released on September 28.
Recall that on June 22, the Khudozhestvenny cinema together with the Arthouse creative association first showed the film “Private Life” by Japanese director Koji Fukada. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival; the image was nominated for the Golden Lion. Read more here.
