In an 11-minute address to the nation from the Oval Office, President Joe Biden explained why he decided to withdraw the nomination. “I decided the best way to move forward was to pass the baton to a new generation. This is the best way to unite the nation.” The bitter meaning of these words for Biden, 81, although full of political pathos, is obvious: I stand in the way of the country, because of me the nation is divided. But it is not only the nation that needs to be saved from divisions, as is clear from his speech. The Democratic Party also needs to be united. That is why he put aside “personal ambitions” and made the difficult decision to withdraw from the election.
The “sudden” insight of politicians who do not notice the obvious is always especially impressive. And then – once! – and poignantly admit that “their time has passed”.
Just a few days ago, everyone around Biden, including Vice President Kamala Harris, passionately convinced the public: everything is fine with the president, although he is elderly, he is vigorous as a cucumber. And he will easily lead the country for another four years. And Biden himself tried to hide his health problems with arguments about his main advantage – wisdom.
And suddenly he decides to give way to the young people. What does it mean? Did he wake up? Or did he just stop lying about his physical and mental condition?

Joe delivered a speech, staring slightly into the corner at the teleprompters. They were treacherously reflected in the window behind the president. “Biden spoke in a low voice, stuttering at times and with a hoarse voice,” describes the action in the British Daily Mail.
But the speaker’s pride was evident. It is worth mentioning that he is giving a speech in the Oval Office, among the portraits of prominent American presidents. He surely hopes to be among them… At the end of the speech, Biden’s closest staff and relatives sitting near the wall applauded and shed a few tears…
But Donald Trump reacted extremely harshly to the speech: he wrote on his social network that Biden’s speech in the Oval Office “was barely comprehensible and very bad.” He continued: “The cheater Joe Biden and the liar Kamala Harris are a great disgrace to the United States.” If Harris becomes president, Trump warned on Newsmax, she will destroy the state.
The vice president, by the way, was not in the White House during Biden’s “historic” speech. Some Western media sarcastically commented: Kamala is incapable of maintaining even a shred of decency and standing by her boss in difficult times. While the weakened president suffers cruel humiliation, Harris campaigns with a smile from ear to ear.
Meanwhile, they also say different things about the “unity of the party” that led Biden to withdraw from the race. Although Kamala Harris has received a verbal promise of support from the majority of delegates at the upcoming Democratic Party convention in August (where the nominee will be officially announced), this is not a guarantee that they will vote for her at the decisive moment, as promised.
Former President Barack Obama, one of the Democrats’ shadow leaders, does not support Harris’ candidacy, believing she will lose to Trump. It is true that there is also this version: Biden announced Harris as his successor in “revenge” on the party leaders who forced him to withdraw his candidacy.
In the time remaining until the end of his term, Biden promised to work tirelessly. “Over the next six months, I will focus on doing my job as president… We will keep NATO strong, make it more effective and cohesive, and maintain a coalition of countries that support Ukraine and counter Russia,” he said.
But it will be very difficult for Biden to focus on even one thing in his current deplorable state. And then another owner will come to the Oval Office.
