Date: March 29, 2024 Time: 21:03:07

The attorney general of the state of Querétaro, central Mexico, said early Sunday morning that he had opened an investigation folder after a fight and riots took place in First Division Professional Football Stadium.

Violence between fans of opposing teams rocked the state of Querétaro on Saturday. At least 22 people were injured either seriously or with injuries that required hospitalization, according to the state civil protection agency.

In the 62nd minute, the game was stopped after fans took over both the stands and the field. Players were attacked relentlessly, some with guns, and large fights broke out among every level of fan.

Querétaro’s prosecutor’s office has opened a case for attempted murder and violence at sporting events following the events that took place in the stadium of Corregidor. Authorities will release more information as it becomes available.

Governor of Queretaro Mauricio Curi announced the death of two people today, although authorities have not yet confirmed it. 22 more people were injured and remain in critical condition following this battle.

Although there is no death, this Sunday will offer a press conference on facts and investigations in general.

On Saturday, spectators are celebrating the Querétar team playing against Atlas de Guadalajara at the Corregidor Stadium, located in the city of Querétaro.

On the side of the news, witnesses saw images of people injured. A stadium full of players and coaches ran out of the field like frightened children when the fighting started. The game had to be called when some assistant coaches came onto the field and fled back into the stands with rioters in pursuit.

People became scared and ran out of the arena in a panic, resulting in fights breaking out throughout the stadium. Some people were left unconscious and bloody on the ground. Others were even stripped naked and left to die.

Although the violence in Querétaro was unprecedented, the State Civil Protection Coordinator says he has no information about deceased persons or even confirms that there are any injured persons. All the reports he does have are that 9 men were admitted to a hospital with serious injuries; all of them being men.
