The transition of agriculture to a new technological level and the introduction of precision farming systems were the subject of detailed consideration during Roman Golovchenko’s visit to an agricultural cooperative in the Grodno region on June 7.
The fulfillment of the tasks facing agriculture, stated the head of the executive branch, “is possible not only through strict compliance with technological standards, but also through the use of new technologies for the production of agricultural products, the development and use of new technical means. .”
Predicting the future development of the industry, he especially highlighted that “despite the presence of different points of view on the development of these processes, it is impossible to move forward in a decentralized manner on a national scale.” In addition, the prime minister is convinced that a comprehensive system for the development of high-tech agriculture “in the long term” must be built throughout the republic.
It is true that it is absolutely obvious, admitted the Head of Government, that it is not a question of “tomorrow the entire country will move to precision agriculture.” First of all, this is impossible due to the difference in levels. But it is absolutely necessary to create so-called growth points, “exemplary farms, where the most advanced concepts will be introduced and then others will follow,” Golovchenko explained about the goal of the strategic task.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also addressed the issue of computerization of the industry, calling it an essential component of agricultural development. “This is because the key importance in this approach is not the quantity of resources, but the rationality of their use and efficiency,” he clarified, pointing out that there is no unified approach in the world applicable to all regions.
“Scientists are debating which soil cultivation technology is most effective, we must decide in which direction to move forward and what is most important at the national level in terms of infrastructure preparation, including precision agriculture,” Golovchenko said. he concluded.
