“According to meteorologists, heavy rain, thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 15 meters per second are expected in the capital after 15:00 today,” Petr Biryukov noted. “In this sense, the city services have been placed on maximum alert, 1.5 thousand emergency teams.”
The deputy mayor stressed that residents were informed of the worsening weather through the media and the city’s information panels. Employees of the fire and rescue garrison warn people about bad weather in the city’s parks and recreation areas.
“Specialists of the Municipal Economic Complex check the water disposal systems in advance, work is organized to clean the water intake grates, elements of the drainage system, storm drains and wells,” said Petr Biryukov.
Measures are being taken to protect residential and non-residential buildings, transportation and commercial facilities, and buildings under construction from gusty winds. Under special control is the operation of life support systems.
The head of the municipal economic complex urged Muscovites to be more careful when the weather deteriorates, to strictly observe the rules of personal safety, not to hide under trees and not to park cars near them.
Drivers should be more careful on the roads, strictly follow traffic rules and avoid sudden maneuvers.
