The Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, spoke about this portrait in May. The portrait was created in the Central African Republic (CAR).
Even though the image was created from wings, no one killed butterflies.
“They only live for a day,” the metropolitan explained, RIA Novosti notes.
According to him, it is a traditional craft of the Central African Republic to create paintings of the colored wings of butterflies. And the portrait of the patriarch was created by parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Central African Republic.
