He recalled that this is the first project in Russia financed by the New Development Bank, created by the BRICS countries. The HPP has been under construction since 2016 and cost 11.8 billion rubles. As the Secretary of the Security Council noted, thanks to the decision of the Board of Directors of PJSC Promsvyazbank to enter the project, financing issues for the completion of construction were resolved.
“In the spring of this year, the facility successfully passed the test of an unprecedented flood, the most powerful in the last hundred years. Confirmation of the possibility of commissioning the Beloporozhskaya HPP-1 power plant has been received at reduced pressure”. Patrushev said.
Before visiting the HPP, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation inaugurated the construction of the first production of autoclaved aerated concrete in the republic, which is also used in the construction of multi-storey buildings. Patrushev, together with the Presidential Plenipotentiary Alexander Gutsan and the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, laid a symbolic capsule on the foundation of the future plant. In Petrozavodsk, he also visited the site of the Onega Shipbuilding Plant, where a high-tech complex for the construction, modernization and repair of ships is being created.
In addition, Patrushev examined the almost finished athletics stadium of the Petrozavodsk State University, which will allow the holding of international competitions. He spoke to young athletes who are among the leaders of Russian sports in their disciplines and wished them good results, which he says will be achieved by classes in the new arena.
Regarding economic security issues, the Secretary of the Security Council pointed out that together with the military, terrorist and information challenges, Russia faced an economic war unleashed by the West against our country.
“The West aims to destroy the economy of our country and create additional social problems for the population. The unprecedented pressure of sanctions carried out by Washington, London and Brussels has become a test for our economy,” Patrushev stressed.
According to him, the introduction of unprecedented sanctions against our country could not but affect the economic indicators of Karelia, where there is a slight decline in industrial production.

At the same time, neighboring Finland, which actively supports all sanctions against Russia, continues to lose huge sums of money and jobs as a result of breaking relations with Russian companies. According to the most conservative estimates, Finnish companies that were forced to leave Russia alone lost around $4 billion.
