Thus, he commented on the words of the United States ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, that the Russian authorities are considering the possibility of returning to the discussion of the Black Sea initiative.
“Moscow is ready to immediately return to the grain deal. But after the conditions are met for Russia,” RIA Novosti quoted a Kremlin spokesman as saying.
Let’s remember that the grain agreement was concluded on July 22 of last year. The Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN signed a document regulating the export of grain from three Ukrainian ports: Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny.
The duration of these agreements was 120 days with the possibility of extension if one of the parties has no objections. As a result, the agreement was extended three times.
On July 17, Moscow decided to end Russia’s participation in the grain deal. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, big US and EU companies profited by exporting and reselling Ukrainian grain, while the deal’s main goal was to ensure global food security and help the poorest countries.
