“Today awards will be presented to the most distinguished servicemen of the 127th motorized rifle division of the 5th inter-arms army,” the Head of State announced at the concert in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Kursk battle.
The golden stars of the Hero of Russia were awarded to Lieutenant Alexander Levakov, as well as Corporals Philip Evseev and Alexei Neustroev.
“This well-coordinated tank crew went into battle with superior enemy forces and accomplished what seemed impossible, accomplished a feat,” the Russian president noted. “Not only did he win the battle, but he also saved his comrades whose tank was hit.”
In addition, Senior Lieutenant Rasim Baksikov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia, and Corporal Ilya Gavrilov was awarded the medal “For Courage”.
