Renfe has announced an investment of 4.1 million euros that will be used to renew the furniture in its stations throughout Spain. With this design, the railway company hopes to modernize the facilities of all its Cercanías, Rodalies and Metric Gauge network cores.
Since June 2011, the operator has managed the entire Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia Metric Gauge network, which previously controlled the extinct fever. Thus, Renfe will renew furniture in the stations of the Cercanías centers of Seville, Cádiz, Málaga, Murcia-Alicante, Valencia, Zaragoza, San Sebastián, Bilbao, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia and Madrid, in addition to those of Rodalies, located in Catalonia . and those of the Metric Gauge network.
The objective of the tender is to remove damaged elements, deteriorated by the passage of time or with deficiencies to improve the user experience, in addition to ensuring compliance with current security and accessibility requirements. The new furniture will also be installed in stations that are remodeled or newly built.
The implementation of the more than 2,800 units of this new furniture, including benches, bins, display cases and ischial supports, will be carried out in the next two years, once the contract is signed with the winning company. The contract for the manufacture, supply and installation of furniture in Cercanías stations in all centers will begin with the implementation of different elements with the corporate image of Renfe.
