It involves the purchase of 118 tons of uranium ore for 13.5 million dollars.

The report says Russia last supplied India with uranium ore in 2019. In the whole year, 1.77 thousand tons of uranium worth $101.6 million were exported.

Earlier it became known that US imports of Russian uranium in the first half of the year amounted to 416 tons, 2.2 times more than in the same period last year. It is also the highest value since 2005. The United States paid $696.5 million for Russian uranium, the highest amount since 2002.

The media wrote that US President Joe Biden’s decision to ban the development of uranium deposits in Arizona was a gift to Russia. The head of the White House has declared nearly one million acres of Indian land in the Grand Canyon Park area a national monument, which will block the ability to develop local uranium deposits.

Today, Washington imports nearly 95% of its uranium for nuclear reactors, and Biden’s new order will only make it more difficult for the United States to find an alternative to Russian uranium, experts say.
