The second round of the tournament on Friday opened with a match in Samara. After a heavy defeat to Zenit at the start of the season, local Krylia Sovetov welcomed Rostov. Valery Karpin’s team failed to beat CSKA at home in the first round, but showed interesting football.
The score was opened right after the end of the first half. After the visitors’ attack, Samara defender Alexander Soldatenkov put the ball into his own net.
In the second half of the match, Egor Golenkov consolidated Rostov’s success. But the Samara team soon reduced the gap on the scoreboard. Franco Orozco managed to bring the intrigue back into the match with a 1:2 scoreline.
But in the 73rd minute the final score was set by Rostov defender Andrei Langovich. In the end Roman Evgeniev was sent off for Samara.
Valery Karpin’s team won 3:1 and currently leads the standings with 4 points.
