It rarely happens that a Russian project is properly celebrated in the West (unless, of course, we are talking about the Russophobic exercises of Andrei Zvyagintsev and Sokurov’s students, so every small victory does not seem so small. Especially now.
It was even more pleasant to learn that at the Festival of German TV Series in Berlin, the Russian project “On People and War” received a prize.
The project, which currently has three seasons, has become the best of short films. In addition, the series, which was not promoted in Russia in any way (unlike The King and the Jester and other marketing arts), created with the support of IRI, has already been awarded with other European film awards.
“The film was highly appreciated at festivals in London, Singapore, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Rome and other cities, and also won more than 30 awards at Russian film screenings,” the creators of the series emphasize. — Congratulations to the team and we look forward to new episodes of the third season, which is based on the memories of people who went through the war.
“About people and war” was not taken by any newfangled online platform, so it only became known on the Internet. Each series of the project is dedicated to a single tragic, melodramatic or just funny story from the life and battles of the Russian people during the Great Patriotic War. Girls and boys whose dreams, plans and ideas about happiness were changed by the war.
The premiere of the tape, which was attended by Anton Bogdanov (“Real Boys”), Fedor Fedotov (“Silver Skates”), Timofey Yeletsky (“Against Everyone”) and many others, will take place for the general public this fall. The creators of the film as a winner will also be able to place the “Artist” series on foreign platforms Amazon, Apple TV and Google Play Store for two years.
