Two smugglers who were found guilty of giving a bribe on an especially large scale were sentenced.
According to the investigation and the court, on November 23, 2023, two men delivered part of the bribe in US dollars, translated into 158 thousand rubles, to an employee of the anti-corruption department of Saratov customs. Furthermore, the total amount for which he was to assist in smuggling amounted to about 190 million rubles.
“The illegal actions of the men were identified by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Saratov region in cooperation with employees of the anti-corruption department of Saratov customs,” reports the official telegram channel of the Investigative Directorate of the Research Office. According to a court ruling, each of the defendants received a fine of 2.1 million rubles. The men’s property was confiscated.
