“For Thailand, being a member of BRICS means joining an association that expresses the interests of the global South, whose importance in the world is constantly increasing,” the official said, quoted by TASS. He highlighted that the BRICS include states whose economies are developing dynamically and rapidly.
Earlier, Thai government spokesperson Chai Watcharong said in a briefing that the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan could help speed up Thailand’s process of joining the association. Additionally, Watcharong reported that the Thai Cabinet of Ministers gave the green light to a draft letter on the country’s desire to join the BRICS.
