A group of Russian scientists published a study on the geroprotective, that is, anti-aging, properties of plants, berries and fruits from North-Eastern Russia, in particular, the Komi Republic.

One of the authors of the study was Professor Alexei Moskalev, with whom KP.RU has repeatedly produced useful materials on how to live a long and young life. Alexey Moskalev constantly mentions natural geroprotective substances. There are many. In particular:

* Anti-inflammatory polyphenols found in fruits and vegetables improve vascular health.

* Fisetin: apples, persimmons, strawberries, grapes, onions.

* Luteolin: found mainly in green vegetables and herbs (from celery to oregano).

* Curcumin: Found mainly in turmeric.

* Polyamines: they are rich in ripe cheeses, mushrooms, grapefruit.

* Magnesium is very important for the youth of cells, including nerve cells (it is abundant in nuts and buckwheat itself).

* Vitamins K (many mainly in leafy vegetables) and D 3 are important for good immunity, prevention of osteoporosis, vascular elasticity.

There are also many substances that we need for eternal youth: glucosamine, carnosine, taurine, melatonin, etc. Basically, they are found in vegetables, berries and fruits.

And here’s what’s interesting: as the study showed, it is the Russian apple (as well as cherries, strawberries and aronias) that contains many important geroprotectors. And the apple is the most rejuvenating – it contains as many as 28 of these important substances! In second place are cherries (23) and parsley (21). Also on top are blueberries and cranberries.

So have time to eat native apples to rejuvenate!

IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE?

Of course, everything is good in moderation. This is what the chief physician of the Weight Factor clinic, Ph.D., nutritionist Marina Kopytko, once told us:

* You may also be allergic to apples. Especially if there is an allergy to apple and birch pollen (the so-called cross allergy).

* If you eat a lot of apples with peel and seeds, intestinal upset is inevitable. Yes, pectin is very useful, but in fact it is a hard brush that sweeps everything out of the intestines. And the bones contain poisonous hydrocyanic acid and amygdalin. Don’t get poisoned, but discomfort is guaranteed.

* An excess of apples can damage sensitive tooth enamel. Therefore, dentists even recommend brushing your teeth after apples or at least rinsing your mouth.
