In total, more than two hundred participants from five regions of Russia demonstrated their skills in eight nominations.
The competition took place in real conditions. The cleaners not only approved the theory, but also dumped coal from active lava No. 5007 into the mine named after VD Yalevskoy. At the same enterprise, tunnelers prepared a reliable clearing front with the help of front and selective combines. Underground electrical installers at the Sib-Damel plant, a service mechanical plant, cut and connected electrical cables, identified and eliminated starting failures, changed the pump casing, and finally pumped water from one container to another. . Here, program-controlled turners, welders and machine tool operators from companies included in SUEK United Service Company demonstrated their skills with facts. They needed to weld parts according to the plans, machine a fitting and a flange.
In all the nominations, the main criteria to determine the winners was the performance of the tasks complying with all safety standards, with the highest quality and in the shortest time.
As the participants themselves point out, overcoming the excitement caused by a great desire not to disappoint their teams was a great additional test.

At the solemn closing ceremony of the Olympics, Alexander Redkin, General Director of SUEK JSC, thanked all the participants for their conscientious attitude towards his mining business. He emphasized that on the eve of the holiday, the openers also showed their professional skills in the Republic of Khakassia and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The Olympic Games allowed once again to unite the best representatives of most of SUEK’s mining professions, and this good tradition will surely continue.
The general director of JSC SUEK-Kuzbass, Mikhail Lupiy, reminded that the Olympic Games are also a review of new technologies. This time, the teams appreciated the underground pneumatic transport for the transport of passengers, which had begun to be used in the mines.
According to the results of the “Miner’s Olympus – 2023” contest, the mine named after VD Yalevskiy won the most prizes. Its representatives won in the nominations “Best Equipment for Underground Coal Mining”, “Best Equipment for Mining with Selective Harvesters” and “Best Equipment for Underground Electricians”. We also highlight the success of the tunnel boring machines of the AD Ruban mine in the nomination “The best equipment to carry out mining works with front-action harvesters”. In competitions for employees of service companies, Sib-Damel LLC became the leader in terms of the number of prizes received.
