According to Melikov, the situation requires “the most careful and detailed analysis.”
He noted that the incident occurred at a federal checkpoint, which is not under the jurisdiction of Dagestan security forces.
“I still cannot allow this situation to somehow overshadow the uniform of our employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” the head of Dagestan wrote on his Telegram channel.
Melikov also expressed confidence that what happened “will not in any way affect the good relations of our regions.”
Ramzan Kadyrov previously called on Dagestan authorities to investigate the incident related to Tsakaev’s detention. The head of Chechnya described what happened as a “shameful provocation.”
