US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen paid a working visit to China in early July, for which she was criticized and ridiculed.
At first, he was reproached for unreasonably bowing down to the Chinese officials he met. Then the fact that he ordered hallucinogenic mushrooms for lunch at one of the Chinese restaurants.
Yellen admitted that she tried hallucinogens. And supposedly this happened without her knowledge: the dish was not ordered by Yellen herself, but instead contained mushrooms with hallucinogenic properties, she later found out.
– I read that if these mushrooms are cooked well (and I’m sure they were), then they have no effect. We all liked these mushrooms, we liked the restaurant, none of us felt any side effects from eating them, Yellen said in an interview with CNN.
It turned out that members of the American delegation at the Yunnan restaurant in Beijing were served wild mushrooms Lanmaoa asiatica, which grows in Yunnan province and contains hallucinogens.
Yellen’s trip was the first visit by the US Treasury chief to China in the last 4 years. The minister tried to establish trade relations between the United States and China, but was unsuccessful.
