The Russia-Africa summit was held in Saint Petersburg from July 27 to 29

From July 27 to 28, Saint Petersburg hosted the second Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum. The large-scale forum involved official delegations from 48 countries, 27 of which were represented at the first- and second-person level.

Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the two-day summit. As a result of the meetings of the head of state with the leaders of African countries, five key documents were adopted:

– Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit;

– Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit on the Prevention of the Arms Race in Outer Space;

– Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit on cooperation in the field of ensuring international information security;

– Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit on strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism;

– Action Plan of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum for 2023–2026.

In addition, in the presence of Russian President Putin, two agreements were signed with the main African integration associations.

In total, within the framework of the Russia-Africa forum, 59 panels were held with the participation of 457 speakers and 161 agreements were signed, 146 of which were with foreign organizations in the field of humanitarian cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to the pavilion of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, which became a platform for negotiations and presentations of new projects. Thus, on the opening day of the event, more than a thousand people participated in the morning 5 km race “We open up”. Under the auspices of the summit, a stage of the Russian beach volleyball championship was also held.

At the Russia-Africa forum, more than 50 exhibition stands were presented in key areas of cooperation between the Russian Federation and African countries. To get acquainted with foreign culture, from July 25 to 28, African Film and Culture Days were held at the Lenfilm Studio.

The forum in St. Petersburg received extensive media coverage. In total, 2,031 journalists from 55 countries around the world received accreditation, including 1,382 from Russia and 456 from African countries.
