India and Brazil have also started buying more from Russia, the report says. There was rapid growth in the direction of India. If in the first quarter of 2021 $78 million worth of fertilizers were shipped, in the first quarter of 2023 the amount amounted to almost $708 million.
But in the European market, Russia’s share has decreased significantly. Its place was taken by suppliers from Algeria, Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago.
Earlier, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya noted that the lives of a large number of people depend on the supply of Russian fertilizers. The diplomat gave concrete figures: with the help of 7 million tons of fertilizer, food can be produced for 200 million people.
