For more than a month, the singer Diana Gurtskaya has been in mourning, dejected by the early death of her beloved husband, the official of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Pyotr Kucherenko, with whom she lived in perfect harmony for almost 20 years.
Of course, the artist had to urgently refuse to participate in the “Two Star” project. Fathers and Sons, where he sang with his 15-year-old son, Kostya Kucherenko. The heartbroken singer was unable to take the stage to announce this. The host of the program, Alexander Oleshko, did it for her.
But in the end, Diana, who visits her husband’s grave daily, gathered her strength and bravely decided to make an official statement. Although no one could have imagined that this would happen. Both for the public and for the jury (the winners were determined by Maria Poroshina, Igor Krutoy, Igor Nikolaev and Leonid Yarmolnik), and for the participants it was a big surprise and to some extent a shock.
The video was recorded at home, the public and the judges saw Diana’s treatment of her son on the screen. Gurtskaya was dressed in a black dress, hers her son Kostya carefully took her hand.
“Good evening to all Channel One viewers,” Diana began, her voice shaking noticeably. – Due to our great family loss, we could not continue participating in the project, but we feel your support even from a distance. It is especially pleasant and important for Kostya and me that the audience appreciates our performances. We thank you for supporting us in such a difficult time in our family.

The public reacted with love and understanding to the tragedy of Diana and her family, giving the singer and her son 32% of the vote, securing the Audience Choice award.
Three (!) couples at once became the winners of the project this year: Sergey Minaev together with his son Sergey, Soso Pavliashvili with his son Levan and Lyubov Uspenskaya with his daughter Tatyana Plaksina – all three tandems scored the same number of points according to the results of eleven numbers – 220.
