According to the Wirtualna Polska publication, “irresponsible” fans of “Shlensk” unfurled banners “targeted at Ukrainians” on the stands with the inscriptions: “Stop the Ukrainianization of Poland”, “Ukrainians killed children in Volyn”, “80 years of shameful silence for Volyn.” Some fans brought posters with them, on which one could see obscene insults against Ukrainian nationalist organizations and their leader Stepan Bandera.
At the same time, the authors of the article noted that football “is not a place for political protests” and “vulgar slogans” harm the neighboring country.
The publication appealed to the Polish football league with a call to “respond immediately” and severely punish those “responsible for compromising the situation.”
Recall that at the beginning of the year, fans of “Shlensk” carried out a similar action, posting during the match a banner “This is not our war” and a pitchfork crossed out by Ukrainian nationalists. As a result, the club was fined 15,000 zlotys (about 340,000 rubles).
