YouTube has started testing a new experimental feature. The service plans to allow users to search for songs using the tune they sing. This is reported by The Verge.

The novelty is already available for some users of the mobile application, which only works on devices with the Android operating system. While the feature is being tested on a limited number of people from different parts of the world. A similar technology called Hum to Search was previously implemented in Google apps and Google Assistant.

However, the YouTube version is expected to be faster. If the Google app takes 10-15 seconds to identify a track, then YouTube should literally do it in three seconds. It has not yet been revealed when the new feature will be available to all users of the service.

The Verge considers the YouTube innovation to be similar to Shazam. However, the latter allows you to search for songs by typing them into the app. Shazam technology is not yet able to recognize tracks by the melody sung by users.
