Barcelona, the defending champions of Spain, defeated Villarreal in the third round match of the Spanish League. The match in Villarreal ended with a score of 4-3 in favor of the guests.
The first half ended in a draw. In the 12th minute, Barcelona midfielder Gavi opened the scoring and three minutes later, Frenkie de Jong doubled the blue garnets’ lead. But at the break the score was tied. In the 26th minute, Juan Foit reduced Villarreal’s long-term deficit, and in the 40th minute, Alexander Serlot restored the balance.
At the start of the second half, Villarreal took the lead thanks to an accurate shot from Álex Baena. But then Barcelona scored two goals in three minutes. In minute 68 Ferran Torres scored and in minute 71 Robert Lewandowski gave victory to Javi Hernández’s team.
Barcelona has seven points from three games and is third in the standings. Villarreal is in 12th place with three points, Real Madrid is in the lead with 9 points.
