As of tonight, a reasonable but vaguely worded question sounded more exhaustive and references to the FHR lost their validity, as the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, as reported by several major media outlets, allowed Ivan Fedotov to play in the CSKA from January 1. 2024. In the correct interpretation, the news “lightning” should sound like this: the FHR banned Ivan Fedotov from playing for CSKA until January 1, 2024. That is, the FHR actually obeyed the will of the International Hockey Federation on Ice (IIHF). Previously, the IIHF disqualified Fedotov for four months, from September 1 to January 1, because he, having failed to fulfill the current contract with one club, signed a new agreement with another.
The decision of the FHR is intermediate (it does not solve the current problem), but absolutely necessary (it allows you to avoid the appearance of new ones). The IIHF has already announced that it will open a disciplinary case if CSKA violates the disqualification conditions and releases Fedotov on the ice. The president of the International Federation, Luc Tardif, denied only one of the possible consequences. According to him, the IIHF will not be able to deduct points from CSKA if Fedotov plays. At the same time, the organization will start a disciplinary process, and then the KHL will have to deal with the withdrawal of points.
However, the statement of the FHR (by the way, it is not on the official website of the organization at the time of this publication) is by no means a guarantee that Fedotov will watch the match for the Opening Cup from the podium. . CSKA have repeatedly made it clear that they have no intention of letting up on the gas and are waiting for Ivan at the gate. Judging by a leaked FHR statement, not all Russian hockey rulers share the army’s ultimatum sentiment. And this gives hope that the situation will be resolved in a civilized way.
