Former Russian figure skaters Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin will enter competitive ice for the first time in a year and a half. They last competed at the Olympic Games in February 2022, representing Russia, and will now display new programs in the colors of the Georgian team at the Ice Dance International tournament in Lake Placid on August 1-2.
The participation of Tutberidze’s daughter with a partner in the competition became known thanks to a comment from the press service of the Georgian national team.
“Gleb and Diana are preparing to kick off the sports season with a tournament performance in Lake Placid. We believe that these plans will not change, ”TASS said, quoting the representative of the press service of the Georgian Figure Skating Federation.

The Lake Placid tournament is unique in that it is designed exclusively for dancers. No couples, no singles, just dance duos. Held since 2015, in 2020 it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, like many other ISU competitions.
The Americans won Ice Dance International five times, in 2015 -a couple of Israel Isabella Tobias/Ilya Tkachenko, in 2019- the Spanish Olivia Smart and Adrian Diaz. In the junior category, the Russians Ksenia Konkina and Georgy Revia, who had not yet acquired Georgian nationality, once climbed to the third step of the podium.
What can Davis and Smolkin count on?
Obviously we will know when the judges give the scores. Diana and Gleb will show a new dance rhythm to the music of Michael Jackson (the songs Bad, Liberian Girl and Cheater are used).
The free will will probably remain the same as the one the skaters prepared for last season, but which was not shown in the competition. “Choreographers: Benoit Richaud, Elena Novak, Alexey Kilyakov. Musical arrangement – Cedric Tour,” Diana wrote.

Previously, ex-Russian and ex-Belarusian Ivan Desyatov’s involvement with an American couple, Isabella Flores, was unofficially announced, but the couple was not on the official list.
