This last fact made some people fall in love with the Atreides saga, while others became seriously angry. Every session there were people who fell asleep and were thirsty for action, but they received another shot of a picturesque desert.
If you are one of those viewers who got bored of the first Dune, then there is no point in watching the second. But if you liked the last part, this one will drive you crazy. The director multiplied all the advantages of blockbuster production and produced one of the best films of all time.

Dune is a novel so epic and multifaceted that even great directors like David Lynch stumbled upon it. They tried hard, but they couldn’t package the story in cinematic format, convey the scale of events, or clearly show the experiences of a person who saw all the options for the future at the same time.
Dividing the first novel into two three-hour films is perhaps the best decision by Denis Villeneuve and his team. Thus, the authors of the film were able to clearly talk about the structure of the Empire, introduce you to the characters, reveal the relationships between the factions and, most importantly, immerse you in the atmosphere of Arrakis. This is a peaceful place where the monotonous preparation for war takes years, and the period from the first shot to the last flies by in an instant.

The first part was essentially the beginning, and the main epic was left for the sequel. But Villeneuve is true to himself: this time he showed a little more action, but left the heart of the film contemplative. The heroes still walk for a long time in the desert, share their experiences and immerse themselves in confusing visions.
In Villeneuve’s interpretation, this slowness is hypnotizing. No matter what’s happening in the frame, whether it’s desert walking or political games, you can’t take your eyes off it. The cameraman always takes the best angles, the color correction is perfect and the actors put all their talent into every word, into every muscle movement of their faces.
The director perfectly combines all this meditation with surprising moments. The serenity of the desert will be disturbed by the arrival of a giant worm, the peaceful life of the Fremen, a gladiator fight on the Harkonnen planet, a careless victory over the enemy army, one of the most intense duels in history . of cinema. These transitions are so sudden that the viewer is constantly excited. This is especially noticeable in the example of the psychopath Feyd-Rauta, who remains completely calm and a second later cuts someone’s throat.

The incredible quality of the visuals and production only enhances the hypnotic effect. If something explodes in the frame, it must be loud and loud. If Shai-Hulud runs for Arrakis, then it seems that he has a total budget of 190 million dollars. If heroes fight with swords, then they put all their pain, all their inner anguish into each blow. No wonder at the end you want to jump out of your chair and clap your hands for a long time.
Chalamet and Butler have never played so well
Dune: Part Two has a great cast. Even in the supporting roles, actresses such as Anya Taylor-Joy, Léa Seydoux and Florence Pugh stand out. These names make expectations sky-high, but you are still surprised while looking at them. Have these stars ever played so well? Do not think.
Take Rebecca Ferguson from Shelter, The Snowman, and the Mission: Impossible franchise. She’s a charismatic and memorable actress, but she does something incredible in Dune. You love her and hate her at the same time, you wish for success and you curse her. All thanks to the complex image, the ambiguous goal and the meaning that the girl puts in each action.

What can we say about top stars like Timothée Chalamet? At the beginning of the film, his character is a lost boy seeking revenge. In the end there is a messiah who fears the great power, but he can’t do anything about it. As a result, Chalamet seems to play different people and emphasize the changes with his gaze, facial expressions, and gestures. I would like to highlight a brilliant monologue towards the end: there the actor gives a speech so powerful that it makes you want to shower him with Oscar awards.
Austin Butler, who plays the psychopath Feyd-Rautha, is not far behind. Just look at him and it is clear: this man is cruel, dangerous and completely crazy. Take, for example, the expression on his face when people die before his eyes: you can read in it delight, emotion and supreme joy. And how wonderful it is that it is the clash between Paul and Feyd-Rautha that decides the outcome of the war.

If you like Villeneuve’s style, immediately run to the cinema and experience one of the main films of your life. This is a beautiful, exciting and brilliant adaptation in every way.
