Two Russians apply to NHL arbitration
Two Russian hockey players filed requests for arbitration regarding salaries, according to the official website of the NHL Players Association press service. In total, 22 hockey players turned to arbitration, among the Russians were Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov and St. Louis Blues forward Alexei Toropchenko.
The deadline to file a second notice of wage arbitration is July 6. The wage arbitration hearings will take place from July 20 to August 4.
Last season, Samsonov reached the Eastern Conference semifinals with Toronto, where he lost in the series to the Florida Panthers. Last season of the regular season, the Russian participated in 42 matches, in which he missed 96 goals. Traktor announced the signing of a contract with Canadian goalkeeper Zach Fukale. According to the press service of the Chelyabinsk club, the contract with the goalkeeper is designed for two seasons.
Zachary Fukale is a Canadian goaltender who began his professional career with the Halifax Musheads of the QMJHL. Already in his first season, Foucalé set a record with 32 wins, the best achievement for a rookie goalkeeper in the Quebec League. The Canadian received the award – “Raymond Lagasse Trophy.” In the 2012/2013 season, Halifax won the Memorial Cup with Fucale for the first time in their history.
He was selected 32nd overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. In the 2013/2014 season, Zachary, speaking in the Quebec League, added two awards to his personal trophies: the Paul Dumont Trophy (man of the year) and the Jacques Plante Memorial Trophy (goalkeeper with the best average). In 2020, the goalie moved to the Washington Capitals club system. This season, Zachary Fukale played for the Hershey Bears (AHL) and won the Calder Cup.
Keep in mind that the 28-year-old Fukale has played just four NHL games in his entire career, earning a victory with 92.4% of reflected shots and a reliability coefficient of 1.75. He has played 38 games in the AHL this season, averaging 90.2% shooting with a 2.54 reliability rating and 21 wins.
