There was a time when an American with Soviet-Belarusian overtones, Alex Galchenyuk, used the Russian team in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Exactly 10 years ago, the son of the famous Moscow hockey player Dynamo became the author of one of the eight goals against Ilya Bryzgalov. And then the future of the talented player of the US youth team seemed cloudless. Dynasty, the son will follow in the footsteps of his father and there will be a chance to even surpass the father.
But as such, Galchenyuk Jr.’s career rolled with a crunch and lackluster. He got into the NHL, and even in the legendary Montreal, but this did not bring any whist. After playing for Canada’s top club for about five years, Alex plunged headlong into a tour of the cities and towns of the North American league, not staying more than a year with any club. As a result, at the moment there are half a dozen clubs, and Galchenyuk’s cart is still there.

In July, lightning flashed all the news: Alex Galchenyuk not only, very drunk, got behind the wheel of his BMW, but also cut off a traffic signal along the way. He left the scene to stop at the nearest parking lot and relax in a very extravagant way – Galchenyuk lay down on the asphalt. But the road sign that had been knocked down earlier did not bother the hockey player. After such leisure, he got behind the wheel again and went home, however, he was stopped by the police. Employees of the American traffic police immediately realized that the comrade was very drunk and tried to persuade the villain to go to the nearest station, for which they received many threats, including some influential “Moscow friends”, who, according to Galchenyuk, would allegedly scare the police.
However, the newcomer to the Arizona club was taken to the local police station, where he was immediately charged with trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest and threats. In the morning, the lover of the “light genre” was released on bail. Arizona, after media reports of this incident, quickly placed Galchenyuk on a waiver draft to opt out of his contract. The trial was scheduled for August 11.

After a while, the Russian news exploded with a sensation. The fact is that Alex Galchenyuk became a client of the Russian scouting agency Winners. It is rumored that the hockey player, who flatly rejected offers from the KHL, will still move to his father’s homeland this time, because he has no other choice. Drunk day off Galchenyuk greatly ruined his reputation in the United States. But in the KHL, as practice shows, very fond of players with a dubious past. Continental league stars like Jake Virtanen, Brendan Leipsik, Reed Boucher and even our own Vyacheslav Voynov got into nasty scandals at home. All these comrades met with open arms and the KHL met. And why disperse high-quality hockey players, they did not do it with us, therefore there is no criminal lawsuit against them in Russia.
Today, almost half of the teams in the Eastern Conference are waiting for Galchenyuk. Already mentioned in the virtual auction are Omsk Avangard, who have all but lost their leader Korban Knight, Kazan’s Ak Bars and even Ufa’s Salavat Yulaev, who have become famous for their attacking element in recent years. There is another touching moment. In the years that Galchenyuk played in Montreal, he crossed paths with Russian star Alexander Radulov. It is Radulov who has been inviting Alex to the KHL for a long time, which means that, despite all the salary caps and other limits for legionnaires, the top club from Kazan can feint with its ears and pull the American thrill-seeker out from under the noses of competitors. Also, Galchenyuk speaks Russian quite well.
