In the central match of the second round of Melbet of the First League, two losers from the last RPL season met: Khimki hosted Torpedo. And the meeting pleased with a dramatic denouement.
Khimki’s head coach Andrey Talalaev has significantly redesigned the team compared to the first game of the season. The Moscow Region team lost on the way to Tyumen (1:3) and a week later appeared in a completely different guise. Only three players kept their places in the base: goalkeeper Anton Mitryushkin, defender Leo Andrade and striker Arshak Koryan. The fact is that before the first game, Khimki was forbidden to register newcomers. The reason is debts with some legionnaires for the 2021/2022 season. The issue was quickly resolved, the ban was lifted, so Khimki entered the field with a completely different team.
“Torpedo”, unlike the opponent, started the new season with a victory. Avtozavodtsy sent a “kopeck piece” to Makhachkala “Dynamo”, one of the targets was designed by 40-year-old Igor Lebedenko. However, it was not without luck. The first goal of ‘Torpedo’ was the product of several rebounds, and the rival ruined three or four hundred percent of the moments. However, the car factory held a nice 2-0 lead until the final whistle.

A simple combination of “Torpedo” ended with the fact that Jordi Reina was left completely alone in front of Anton Mitryushkin’s goal. Losing out of such a position was simply unrealistic. By the way, the Peruvian scored the first goal in the “Torpedo” under the leadership of Clotet. Last season, Reina scored in the RPL match with Pari NN. Then the teams shared the points (1: 1), but then the Nizhny Novgorod team was slapped with a “techie” for violating the rules.

Before the break, the score had not changed, although Khimki had a couple of interesting moments. In the first case, Koryan hit the Torpedo goalkeeper in the face, and then Artyom Kulishev, from a cold position, threw the ball over the crossbar. In general, the hosts kept the initiative, but there were not so many interesting episodes. During the break, the Khimki coaching staff released Ilya Berkovsky onto the field, and this step paid off.
First, the former footballer of the Torpedo, Ravil Netfullin, charged from long distance, and the goalkeeper of the guests, Yegor Baburin, coped with the insidious shot with great difficulty. But after a few minutes, the goalkeeper was still caught off guard. Baburin opened the corner to his right as he waited for a banner submission. And the cunning Berkovsky struck a perfect hit in terms of accuracy: even the desperate jump of the goalkeeper did not help the car factory. Perhaps this ball is on Baburin’s conscience.

After the break, Khimki had more possession of the ball and deservedly restored equality on the scoreboard. However, one episode at Mitryushkin’s gates could change everything. Veteran Lebedenko cut through a brilliant pass to Roman Yuzepchuk, but the birthday boy (the Belarusian turned 26) failed to get past the goalkeeper from a lethal position.
