Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and now a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Irina Rodnina announced a decrease in the value of the Olympic Games.
“The Olympic Games are the main sporting event. However, today we see that its value decreases every year. The Olympic movement is in crisis and its leaders are clearly going against the statutes by selecting athletes according to their nationality,” Rodnina quotes RB Sport.
On March 28, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended allowing Russians and Belarusians to participate in international competitions on a neutral basis and subject to a number of conditions. This does not apply to team sports, as well as athletes associated with law enforcement agencies (army, national guard, police) and athletes who openly supported the SVO.
The next Olympic Games will be held in the summer of 2024 in Paris (France). It will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
