When it comes to basketball players in movies, the legendary Michael Jordan and the equally legendary “Space Jam” Ray Allen, who starred in one of the best sports dramas, “His Game,” immediately come to mind, and for older fans of the National Basketball Association, you may remember Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who starred in the Bruce Lee film “Game of Death” and the comedy “Airplane.”
But indecently silent and far from all the extra-sports commotion, the current NBA champion Nikola Jokic, who plays for the Denver Nuggets, starred in a promotional video for the new part of the cartoon series Despicable Me 4.

“I thought I looked good that day. I put on a business suit. But they said I looked like Gru. It doesn’t bother me, but they can’t leave me alone. “Guys, I’m not your boss,” Jokic said in the trailer. At the same time, Nikola arrived at the first-round game of the NBA playoffs with the Los Angeles Lakers wearing the scarf worn by Gru, the franchise’s main character, in the cartoon. And overall he looked like Gru. But what could this mean…?
Perhaps Jokic has a cameo in the cartoon, or decided to earn extra money in this way, since lately only the lazy have not heard about the Serbian center. Two-time MVP, Final Series MVP, NBA Champion and many other accolades – it all revolves around the Joker. But before he didn’t care about those things. Maybe he’s just continuing to develop his personal brand, or maybe something in his mindset has changed.
One way or another, let’s remember the NBA stars who appeared on movie screens. Previously we have talked about Michael Jordan, Ray Allen, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the films with their participation. But did you know that the scandalous Dennis Rodman became an actor even during his professional career? In 1997 he starred in the film Colony with Jean-Claude Van Damme. One of the latest famous basketball players to appear on the big screen is LeBron James. The King played himself in Space Jam 2: The Next Generation.
